Jurij R. Bilyk, MDDr. Jurij R. Bilyk is an Attending Surgeon on the Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery Service at Wills Eye Hospital and a Professor of Ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and obtained his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Bilyk completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Jefferson University Hospital and his residency in Ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital. His oculoplastic and orbital surgery fellowship training was completed at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) of the Harvard Medical School with Dr. John Shore.

Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Bilyk joined the faculty at MEEI in 1993. In 1994, he returned to Wills Eye Hospital, where he specializes in the management of eyelid, lacrimal, and orbital diseases. He has a special interest in orbital disease, thyroid eye disease (Graves' disease), and trauma, and works closely with the Departments of Otolaryngology, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, and Neurosurgery at Jefferson University Hospital. He is also a core member of the Skull Base Division of the Neuro-Ophthalmology Service at Wills Eye Hospital, which specializes in the coordinated, multidisciplinary management of a variety of skull base diseases.

Dr. Bilyk is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the only active member in the Philadelphia area of the International Orbital Society, whose limited membership includes nationally and internationally known orbital specialists. He has been named a Castle Connelly Top Doctor and a Philadelphia Magazine Top Docs™  award winner in 2014. Dr. Bilyk has served as the chairman of the ASOPRS thesis committee, currently serves on the AAO’s Ophthalmic Technology Assessment Committee in Oculoplastic Surgery, and has won multiple awards for his teaching excellence. He has published over 80 papers in the peer-reviewed literature as well as numerous book chapters, and is a frequently invited speaker at local, national, and international conferences.
